Salvation

Posted by thephotominister on May 20, 2013 at 11:10 AM

Salvation is a free gift from God that rescues the believer from sin and its consequences, renews the believer to a holy life, and restores the believer to a right relationship with God for all eternity. Salvation is necessarry because of the fall of man. Salvation was provided by Grace alone through repentance and through Faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Jesus substitutionary death on the cross is the key element of salvation. ( John 3:16, John 1:12, Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23 ) The concept of salvation spans both testaments of the Bible ( Psalm79:9, Proverbs 16:6 ), everywhere pointing to the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the sins of the world. All are invited to find refuge in the atonement of Christ ( Luke 14:16-17 ). All of mankind are not only invited but commanded to believe the Gospel ( Acts 17:30-31 ). Those who are redeemed are saved from God's judgement because they are united to Christ through Faith ( Ephesians 1:7 ). On the final day of judgement, those who are not " in Christ " will bear the eternal penalty for their own sins ( 2 Corinthians 5:10 ) and for the dread transgression of rejecting God's word in Christ ( John 3:19, Hebrews 10 :29 ).
